Buy American Grundfos
Federally funded projects require a document signed by a manufacturer that proves the manufactured goods used in the project meet specific Buy American requirements. Grundfos was looking for a way to automate the part number lookup funtion for these documents and allow customers to directly download the approved documentation from the Web.
Allens Consutling was hired to design, code and host this lookup tool. We designed the data model from their manual process and uploaded all of the pump information, appropriate federal information and tied it all back to the Grundfos Part Number. The site is easier to use than Google - simply type in a part number and the appropriate PDF is generated from the web database. We started with some WORD and EXCEL documents and created the tool from there.
An editor function allows Grundfos employees to update the part number and federal document database as needed.
As always with our work, this site is designed to operate from mobile phones, tablets and PCs.
